Tragedy as Hull dad Danny Kitching, 35, dies of cancer
Hull dad Danny Kitching has died of cancer at the age of 35.
His heartbroken wife Kimberley, 34, confirmed the tragic news in a tweet posted on Saturday morning.
Posting a lengthy note about his death, she tweeted: “This is Danny’s wife. Danny will be forever loved.”
The note said: “I write this with tears in my eyes and a broken heart, unfortunately on 4/8/2017 my soulmate, my best friend, my shoulder to cry on and my husband Daniel Kitching passed away.”
She added: “I don’t know how I’m going to find the strength to move forward but know that I have to for our 3 beautiful amazing children.”
Danny, of Longhill, east Hull, was diagnosed with bowel cancer in August 2015.
Chemotherapy followed, but in May he was given the devastating news the treatment had not been successful and he had exhausted all options available on the NHS.
Determined not to give up, his family set about raising £55,000 for the possibility of private treatment.
Thousands of pounds were raised through a variety of fundraising events and donations from members of the public touched by his plight.
Speaking to the Mail in June, Danny described the support as “phenomenal”.
He said: “Who’d have thought little old me, a bloke from Longhill, would get all of this support? I can’t believe it. It’s absolutely phenomenal.”

Heartbreakingly, just days ago Kimberley told the Mail they were expecting to receive details of treatment costs from the Harley Street Clinic next week.
In the post, she said Danny hoped that any money raised be put into a trust fund for his children but added that people could get in touch if they want their donations returning.
Hull City legend recently played auctioneer at a fundraiser for Danny at the Rising Sun pub in north Hull.
Other fundraisers have included race nights at The Lord Nelson pub in north Hull, and The Barham in east Hull, and a show at Willows club in east Hull organised by Gemma’s Dance Academy.
